Irene Leonie ADAMS16 June 1940 to 29 November 2014Please click read more. Irene was born at Wauchope Hospital on 16-7-1940. Daughter to Les and Ella Barnes. Irene spent her young life in Herons Creek, went to school at Herons Creek. Irene was baptised, confirmed and married at St. Mary’s Church. Irene was also known as ‘Duckie”. Leonie married Lennie Fuller and they then went to live in Kempsey where her 3 children Lennie, Terry, and Steven were born. Later in life Irene married Les Adams and moved to Victoria for a while. They spent many happy years together. Irene & Les moved back to Herons Creek when Irene’s dad became ill. They continued living in this town they both loved until Les died 14 years ago. At that stage of her life, Irene just wanted to be near her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren, so she moved north again to be close. It is said that Irene was known & loved for a number of things. First she was ‘a straight shooter’ – she said it how it was & didn’t mince her words. Irene also love to celebrate. As one grandchild said, “grandma loved a party”. She also loved her family. Irene was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, Great Grandmother to her family. Irene will be very much missed by brothers, sisters, family and friends. Brothers: Don, Joe (dec.), Noel (dec.), Paul, Johnny Sisters: Joyce, Margaret Children: Lennie, Terry, and Steven Fuller Grandchildren: Renaja, Andrew, Nathan, Martin, Ellie, Garnet Great Grandchildren: Jenaya, Ashtyn, Emmilia, Jaxon, Ethan Irene’s funeral was held at Herons Creek Chapel Thursday 4th December 2014. Over 100 folk packed the chapel on a wet afternoon to farewell Irene. Some travelled long distances. A very moving eulogy was given by her brother Don. Irene’s grand daughter, Renaja gave a tribute. And another tribute was read out. Irene has been lay to rest at Herons Creek Cemetery.
